Dear Sir:
I visited your blog so I could witness the atrocities that some people still believe in. I’m shocked to see that in the 21st century people still believe in myths like “possession” and “spirits.” They read these stories, which are only anecdotes, and then proceed to believe them, even though there is virtually no proof that such events are even occurring. Mankind has become so ignorant! How can people believe in spirits that have never been proven? Yet at the same time people cannot believe in evolution which has ample and profound proof. Anyway, I guess I’m just shocked and above all embarrassed to be sharing the same planet with people that are so mindless and ignorant. Use your brain, people!

Dear Mr. Rational:
Rants like yours remind me that James Randi has his annual skeptics conference coming up July 8-11 in Las Vegas. Possibly in fear of another Million Ghost March in protest of the event, as took place in 2008, the meeting is being held at the obscure South Point Hotel and Casino.
Perhaps the most amazing aspect of the gathering is that a number of noted scientists have accepted an invitation to speak at a conference hosted by an aging magician who has turned “skepticism” into his very own cottage industry and retirement nest egg.
BTW: Scheduled guest speakers/entertainers at the event include eminent evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins (that’s good), comedians Penn & Teller, Penn & Teller’s piano player and, apparently, a John Lennon impersonator (hmmm…)
